President’s Report
Logo We should all have received an email and voted on a new logo. The #2 choice was the winning
design. Look for the new design on our website, IG page, etc. soon.
2024 Guild Officers will be voted on at the October meeting. Melissa Ritts is the Nomination
Coordinator. You can nominate yourself or any other member of the Guild for any of the offices. Co-
Chairs for any of the positions are welcome. Please consider running for an office, and let Melissa know what you might be interested in. Job descriptions for each position are on the website.
Guild offices are: President, VP Elect (2-year term), Treasurer, Secretary, Membership, Social Media, Fundraising Chair, Charity Chair.
Treasurer’s Report Current balance is $4,774. We have used $149 of the $300 budget for the
Community Quilt to purchase fabric and supplies.
Charity The winning design for the 2024 QuiltCon Community Outreach challenge was created by Linda Selby. Linda has the block kits ready. They are FPP kits and go together pretty quickly. If you’d like some kits to work on, please let Linda know. QuiltCon is only taking the first 80 submissions this year so we’d like to have the flimsy done by October 15 when submissions open. We will have a sew-in on September 30 at the Dublin library to work on the quilt together. If you can’t make the sew-in but would like to help, please contact Linda.
Our charity project this year is Dress A Girl Around the World program. Our goal was to have 30
completed dresses by the September 14 meeting. Mary has collected 50 dresses, so we have exceeded
our goal! Thanks to all who have helped with this project. She will ship them to the charity for
distribution to girls in need.
Programming
-Kelsey Danley of Ohio Drip is teaming up with Victoria Findlay Wolfe for a seminar the evening of
October 3, 6-9pm at Wild Goose Creative. Tickets are $25. Kelsey is a returning member of our guild and co-owner of Ohio Drip. Tickets are still available online. If there are any left, they will be available at the door for $30.
-Patty and Cynthia A. are planning a retreat for next Fall. More details to come.
-Lissa is planning our annual holiday gift exchange. We will each get a small paper bag . We’ll fill that
with scraps from our stash and exchange them at the October meeting. If you did not get a bag at the
September meeting, you can still bring a small bag of scraps to exchange at the October meeting. Bags should be about the size of a standard paper lunch bag and you should not be able to see through it. We’ll exchange bags at the October meeting and then make something from the scraps we receive and exchange our items at the December meeting. Thanks to Mary for the fun idea and to Lissa for coordinating it! Lissa will send an email with further information.
-We also have a call for help with programming. If you have an idea, tip, technique, project, etc. you can
share with the Guild, please let Lissa or Ricky know! We would love to have our members share their
talents.
Linda demonstrated her Foundation Paper Piecing technique for tonight’s program. This is the
technique we are using for the Community Quilt.
We wrapped up the meeting by sharing some of our recent projects with Show and Tell.
