President’s Report

Business Cards: Business cards have been printed with the new logo and were distributed to members at the meeting. Note cards are on order. If you would like a few business cards to distribute to fellow quilters who might be interested in joining us, please send a note to the guild email centralohiomqg@gmail.com

Meeting Space: As much as we love Sew to Speak, we’ve outgrown the space. We’re looking for a new location to meet in 2024. We have some feelers out, but if anyone has a suggestion, please contact the board at the guild email centralohiomqg@gmail.com.

2024 Guild Officers have been elected. The new board includes the following:

President, Linda Selby; VP, Erica Olivares-Vincent; VP Elect, Patty Merrick; Treasurer, Cynthia Adkins; Secretary, Susan Shuter; Social Media/Technology Chair, Melissa Ritts; Fundraising Chair, Mary Maben; Membership Chair, Dorothy Michalski. The Charity Chair position is open.

Treasurer’s Report: Current balance is $4,823.

We are now collecting 2024 membership dues. Our dues remain at $45 for 2024. This is the same amount the National MQG charges for individual memberships. We’d like to collect the dues by the end of the year for a smooth transition for the new Treasurer. Dues can be paid via Venmo, PayPal, check, or cash. Credit cards can be accepted at meetings and there is now a link on the website to pay via PayPal.

If you know someone who would like to join, but needs financial assistance for the dues, please contact Linda through the guild email.

Charity: The 2024 QuiltCon Community Outreach quilt top was constructed by members of the guild and has been submitted to MQG. Linda and Patty have volunteered to do the quilting.

With Mary taking on the role of Fundraising Chair for 2024, the Charity Chair is open. Please consider helping out in this role. Co-chairs or a chairmanship for a single project are welcome.

Programming: There will be a sew-in just for fun on 11/18 at the Bexley Library 10am to 6pm. Come for all or part of the day. Work on whatever project you like or just visit for a while.

Our December meeting will be our holiday party and gift exchange. Lissa will be reaching out by email to coordinate a potluck meal. Use the scraps from the exchange at the October meeting to make a gift for another guild member to exchange at the December meeting. The meeting will be on 12/14, 6:30pm at the Karl Rd. Library.

2024 programming is being scheduled now. If you have an additional idea for a program or workshop might like to share with the guild, please let Ricky or Patty know so we can get that on the schedule. We currently have plans for English Paper Piecing, Binding techniques, Foundation paper piecing, decorative stitching, Color Theory, non-fabric, unconventional materials, Improv piecing, installing zippers, cultural quilting, “spooky” quilts, stash busting, and a salt cellar pin cushion workshop.

Kathy Faust is organizing a new sewing circle for handwork. No experience necessary. It will be the first Thursday of the month at 10am. The first meeting will be on 12/7. Send a note to the guild email if you’re interested in more information.

We wrapped up the meeting by sharing some of our recent projects with Show and Tell! Photos on Instagram and Facebook
