June 13, 2024 – 17 in attendance, including one guest, at the Northwest Library.
We started the meeting by going directly to our guest speakers via Zoom. Tonight’s programming was on the EQ8 Quilt Design software. Our guests, Christine Kohler and Olivia Sevits provided a demo of the EQ8 software and then addressed several questions from guild members. EQ8 provides a number of tools specifically for quilt design. Use the code WATCHEQ25 for a 25% discount on any EQ products (does not apply to classes) through 12/31/24 at their website, electricquilt.com

Upcoming Programming:
Kathy Faust is hosting a Hand Work sewing circle at her home on the first Thursday of each month during the day. If you would like to join, please contact Kathy directly or through the guild email address, CentralOhioMQG@gmail.com. All are welcome.
We will be starting a scrap challenge to be worked together over several months. Final quilt tops should be completed by the September 2025 meeting. The “Wanderer’s Wife” by Jen Kenwell is the suggested pattern. Cynthia A. is working on FPP patterns from the blocks from this pattern. You may use any “scrappy” quilt designs if you prefer a different design. Finished quilts should be at least 50” x 50” and include at least 25 different fabrics. The idea is to use scraps we already have on hand.
In addition to our scrappy challenge, we have more exciting programming coming up including presentations from Cherrywood Fabrics and SAQA. For our July meeting we will tap into the MQG Resource Library and learn about the use of negative space in modern quilt design. And we’ll enjoy a picnic together for our August meeting.
2024 Retreat – Mark your calendars for the upcoming fall retreat on November 10-13, 2024. The retreat is now full, but if you are a member and would still like to attend, please contact the guild at CentralOhioMQG@gmail.com and let us know. We will add you to a wait list.
We wrapped up our meeting with Show & Tell. Lissa showed off her quilted shoes which she made from a kit from SneakerKit. Sneakerkit.eu will also reference sites for ordering a kit in the USA if you are interested in making your own.
