COMQG February 13, 2025 meeting minutes
Submitted by Trish Jacquemin.
The meeting, which was held at the Worthington Library, was called to order at 6:350 PM. An ice breaker led by Dorothy began the meeting.
Lanakila refreshed our memories about the rules for doing a meeting via Zoom. She had everything set up and ready to go. However, nobody attended via Zoom. Hopefully, we will begin to offer Zoom meeting options in April 2025.
We each shared our creative goal for 2025 as the ice breaker.
President report:
- Dues are due now. Pay Jennifer if you have not already paid.
- We have a free subscription to Quild Folk magazine and there are 2 copies people can borrow if they would like.
- Upcoming quilt shows : AGA display on the second floor of the main library until 3/28/2025
- Quintessential Quilt Show is March 21, 22 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds.
- Once you finish a quilt for our chosen charity –My Very Own Blanket, bring it in for Melissa. We are focusing on quilts for older kids, particularly boys as they are often overlooked.
Treasurer’s report:
We had no expenses in January. We added $799.97 to the balance resulting in a new balance of $6099.87
Charity Updates:
This year’s charity focus will be the organization My Very Own Blanket, which makes quilts for foster kids. We will focus on quilts for older kids, particularly boys as they are often overlooked. Melissa will be sending out specifics and we will obtain labels from the organization to use. The focus will be on bold colors.
Trish has had a huge donation of fabric to use for charity work. She has more than she can use for her other charity work she does so she needs some help sorting it and then everybody can come do some “shopping” for fabric. There are also some kit and BOM kits that she is sorting out. Considering selling those at a low price in order to buy a roll of batting to use for My Very Own Blanket project. More will be coming out on that.
Vice-President’s Report:
Cynthia reminded those planning to attend National Quilt Day in March, you must pay by 2/28/2025. The people who had already paid picked up their envelope of coupons for the stores. We are doing a bag exchange with the NE ohio guild. Put your name and guild name in the bag so they know who made it.
The November retreat opens to the public on 3/1/2025. Let any board member know if you are interested in being on the retreat committee this year. We will start planning after QuiltCon.
The April presentation (no meeting in March due to National Quilt Day) will be Karen Brown from Just Get it Done Quilts.
End of Business Meeting
For our program, Eva from Sew to Speak spoke to us about business trends and how quilting and garment-making overlap.
Show and tell was held and the meeting was adjourned at 8:30
Trish Jacquemin, COMQG secretary.
