Submitted by Trish Jacquemin
The meeting, which was held at the Worthington Library, was called to order at 6:30 PM. An ice breaker, led by Dorothy Michalski, began the meeting.
Libby Vynalek has agreed to be the Vice President Elect and will help Cynthia Adkins with programming. Thank you Libby!
President report:
- Susan Shuter reminded everyone that we have both a private Facebook group, and a Public Facebook page and that members should be cautious about what is posted to the public page.
- Entries are now being accepted for the Franklin County Fair. They are also looking for ‘White Gloves’ for the fair from 7-14-25 to 7-20-25. These are the lucky people who get to wear white gloves and pick up the quilts so people can see the backs. Contact Dorothy if this is something you can help with.
- The Ohio State Fair is scheduled for 7-23-25 to 8-3-25.
- Quilt National at the Dairy Art barn in Athens is scheduled from 5-24-25 to 9-1-25. This is an absolutely amazing exhibit. Dorothy is working on arranging a field trip for those who would like to attend.
Treasurer’s report:
From February to March, we started with $6099.87, had income of $700, expenses of $1,871.82, and our ending balance was $4,928.05.
Charity Updates:
Melissa Ritts reported on the My Very Own Blanket Requirements. Please go to their website for details. https://www.myveryownblanket.org/
Melissa will be obtaining labels for us. Trish and Patty Merrick will be longarming them so get the quilt tops to them as soon as you have them finished so they can start working on them. The deadline is Early November. Members are still welcome to contact Trish (centralohiomqg@gmail.com) tito set up a time to go through her giant mountain of fabric donations for free fabric to make these quilts with. If you would like to make a donation to the guild to buy a roll of batting for charity quilts, it would be very appreciated. Please contact either Trish or Jennifer Herschner if you can donate.
Vice-President’s Report:
Cynthia Adkins provided an updated programming list. Next month Monique Kleinhans, of Ladybug’s Cabin, will give a Zoom presentation on Thread Painting.
We have one space left for our November Treat. Get ready for an amazing time!
Cynthia has finished converting the Wanderer’s Wife to paper piecing patterns. That was a lot of talented work by Cynthia. Thank you!
Susan shared our new information and business cards. These will be spread around verious places, especially quilt shops, in an effort to grow our guild.
End of Business Meeting
Karen Brown of Just Get It Done Quilts’ presentation was amazing. Please watch her YouTube channel and website for more inspiration.
- Quilters should own their own Superpower.
- We should savor our strengths. We quilters tend to spend more time focusing on our faults and not our strengths.
- She encouraged us to dig into our ‘PIGS’; projects in grocery sacks.
Show and Tell was held, the meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm, and the Scrap Table Frenzy began. Thank you, Brooke Sackenheim, for arranging this.
Trish Jacquemin, COMQG secretary.
