COMQG August 24, 2025 Board Meeting minutes
Board Members Present: Libbi Vynalek, Cynthia Adkins, Susan Shuter, Melissa Ritts, Trish Jacquemin, Dorothy Michalski. Jennifer Hershner and Lanakila Alexander attended virtually.
Current Needs of the Guild:
- Formation of a nominating committee. Linda Selby has volunteered to chair It; however we still need 1 or 2 others to serve on this committee. These members cannot be running for any board positions.
- Update of our current role descriptions. Susan is working on this and will be sending out updated roll descriptions for board review as well as adding a Vice President Elect position description.
- Guild by-laws need updated and submitted to national by March 2026 in order to stay in compliance. Susan will work on these for review/editing by the board by the end of 2025.
Dues:
The national dues are increasing so discussion was held concerning raising our dues. Cynthia made the motion to raise our guild dues to $55 effective January 1, 2026. Libbi seconded the motion and it carried unanimously. The website will be updated to reflect this change after members are notified of this at the October meeting. If a member pays their dues early, then they will receive a raffle ticket for the Ohio Star quilt. Members will be asked to pay $58 for dues IF using Paypal to cover our PayPal fees.
Charity Project:
Melissa will show the Ohio Star quilt to members at the September meeting and will sell raffle tickets for $5 each or 5 for $20. Proceeds will help cover the cost of supplies to complete quilts for My Very Own Blanket. Once those costs are covered any remaining proceeds will go into the guild’s general funds.
New Member Recruitment:
Melissa and Libbi will view training on running hybrid meetings. A discussion was held regarding effective zoom meetings and possibly even zoom retreats and making the July and August meetings Zoom only.
We need to encourage members to pass out the cards and invite friends. Visitors can attend 2 meetings, but will be asked to join for the 3rd.
Trish will look into making a new COMQG banner with the new logo at the Maker’s Studio at the library.
