COMQG 2nd Quarter Board Meeting

3/29/2026

Members present via Zoom: Susan S., Jennifer, Libbi, Brooke, Melissa, Dorothy, Susie F., Emily

Meeting called to order at 2pm

MQG Dues have been paid.

Updated bylaws have been posted on the Guild’s Google Drive and Susan will upload to the MQG later today.

We will need to renew our liability insurance mid to late May. Last year it was $361 which was a small increase from the previous year. At the April meeting, we will ask for member approval of up to $400 to renew the insurance.

Technology – The Guild’s Google phone number has expired. We signed up for that only because we wanted to use it for Venmo. Since Venmo will not accept it as a valid cell phone number, we will let it go.

WordPress is the Content Management System (CMS) that we have been using for our website. Melissa suggested looking into Google Sites as this is a free service that she finds easier to use. She will look further into Google Sites as a possible alternative to WordPress for managing our website. We’ll need to make sure any CMS will meet all of our needs before transitioning. We have paid for WordPress through 2026.

Charity – Team Rafiki will not likely continue with the re-usable sanitary pads program due to the extra expense (bribe) they had to pay to bring them and other donated products into the country. Instead, they will purchase items there.

Melissa suggested the Guild consider sponsoring a basket for My Very Own Blanket’s fall fundraising gala.

Traditionally, the Guild has sponsored the 4-H clock trophies for quilting at the Ohio State Fair. Because of rising costs, we elected to sponsor just one of the trophies last year. We’ll plan to sponsor one again this year if the cost is similar to last year’s.

Fund Raising – Brooke suggested the Guild purchase a table at Sew to Speak’s De-Stash event in the fall. Members would donate any unwanted sewing/craft items to be sold and proceeds would go to the guild. We can also promote our guild during the event. We would need some volunteers to work the table on the day of the event as well as set up and tear down. Dorothy suggested we could donate any unsold items to Craft Raccoon after the sale. We will gauge interested from Membership once we know the date.

Programming is set through early 2027 and Libbi and Brooke are working on filling out the 2027 schedule now. We will not have regular meetings in July or August. Instead, we are planning a virtual sew-in on July 11 and an All Ohio Shop Hop event in August.

QuiltCon Community Quilt – Parameters (theme & color pallet) are expected to be announced in May. Emily will keep an eye out and put out a call for design ideas from members once they are released, hopefully by the May meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 3:05pm
