President’s Report:
Meeting Space: Reminder that our January meeting will be held at the Old Worthington Library, 820
Hight St, Worthington, OH. February and March meetings will be at the Northwest Library – 2280 Hard
Rd, Columbus, OH 43235. We also discussed the possibility of including a Zoom option for those who
cannot attend in person. Getting good quality sound and video for regular in-person meetings may be
challenging, but we will explore what we might be able to work out.
QuiltCon Is offering a streaming lecture pass this year. All 28 lectures will be live-streamed, and replays will be available until March 4, 2024. If you can’t make it Raleigh, but want to attend virtually, this is a great option. Go to themodernquiltguild.com for more information and to register.
Our Community Quilt will be displayed at QuiltCon and is for sale. Proceeds will go to local charities in
Raleigh. Thank you to all who participated in making the quilt.
Congratulations to members who had individual quilts accepted into the show including Lissa’s entry of the COSI quilt which she and Anne put together from the blocks created by the community at the COSI Science Fair in May. Look for that one in the group projects category.
Treasurer’s Report: Current balance is $5,444. This includes new membership dues. We will need to pay
our dues to the National Guild early next year.
We are now collecting 2024 membership dues. Our dues remain at $45 for 2024. This is the same
amount the National MQG charges for individual memberships. We’d like to collect the dues by the end of the year for a smooth transition for the new Treasurer. Dues can be paid via Venmo, PayPal, check or cash. Credit cards can be accepted at meetings and there is now a link on the website to pay via PayPal.
If you know someone who would like to join, but needs financial assistance for the dues, please contact Linda or Cynthia through the guild email.
Programming:
2024 programming is being scheduled now. If you have an additional idea for a program or workshop
might like to share with the guild, please let Ricky or Patty know so we can get that on the schedule.
It is already time to start thinking about 2025 programming. Jean motioned to allow for a $1,300 budget for 2025 programming (a $100 increase from the 2024 budget). Andrea seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Kathy Faust is organizing a new sewing circle for handwork. No experience necessary. It will be the first
Thursday of the month at 10am. Send a note to the guild email if you’re interested in more information.
National Quilt day in Amish Country. Patty is making arrangements for a combined event with the
North East Ohio MQG in Amish Country on National Quilt Day, 03/16/2024. More information to come.

2024 Retreat – Plans for a 2024 retreat at the Berlin Grande hotel in Berlin, OH are underway. Linda sent
out a Google survey and all respondents who are interested in attending chose 11/10/2024 –
11/13/2024 as their preferred date. We will need to put down a $250 deposit to reserve the conference
room for our sewing space. Trish motioned to use $250 from the guild treasury to make the deposit.
Cynthia A. seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Linda will make the deposit and have the rooms blocked. Once we have the contract in place, additional information will be sent to secure your spot and make your room reservations with the hotel.
The December meeting was our Holiday Party and pot luck dinner. After dinner and a brief business
meeting we exchanged the gifts we made from each others’ scraps. There were a lot of impressive
projects including bags, banners and small quilts in the exchange.
We wrapped up the meeting with show and tell.
