Chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild

The Central Ohio Modern Quilt Guild is excited to be in the midst of its first fundraising effort – a quilt raffle!

This modern Ohio quilt was a guild team effort: designed by Cheri Mansperger, pieced by guild members, and quilted by Cassandra Beaver.

For our first fundraising raffle, we chose Cheri’s modern Ohio quilt design because here in central Ohio, people LOVE anything that represents the Buckeye State. It’s a guaranteed winner! The guild voted on color schemes at the April meeting and selected this solid color palette. The fabric was divided into block kits by Kayla and members took kits home at the May meeting. Finished blocks were due at the June meeting and members met to assemble the quilt at a sew-in mid-June.

With feedback from the guild on memorable Ohio themed words and phrases, Cassandra worked her magic to quilt them into the finished product. Cristy Stuhldreher graciously took it along with her on vacation to bind it by hand and take some amazing lakeside photos.

The quilt then made an appearance at the Ohio State Fair, taking home second place in the Lap Quilt category! Be on the lookout for more public appearances this fall!
