Laura is our Queen Bee for the month of March, and she loves Tula Pink’s nature inspired designs and color saturated fabrics featuring wildlife and insects.
Laura has asked that the Bee make an improvisational block, from scraps, featuring a focus fabric or a fussy cut. The block should be 12.5 inches square and contain fabrics from the same color family. Anything goes! Think stripes, dots, solids! Tonal or small prints in shades of the main color will surround the focal fabric.
Worker Bees are asked to consider taking the block one step further: Back the block with batting and a fabric square to create a mini-quilt sandwich and then quilt the square as desired. This step is optional.
Since this is improv, there is not a guide photo to share with you.
Please feel free to contact Laura if you have any questions!
Hi there! I made a few blocks last weekend! It took some real bravery to cut into my Tula Pink fat quarters! I am using Kona white for the back of my blocks. Thinking about how to quilt them. Hope you are having fun!
