August Meeting Minutes

Results are in from the 2020 event planning survey. We’re looking at hosting Sherri Lynn Wood or Sara Thomas. Some other ideas for next year: member trunk shows, modernize the Bee, two retreats, garment sewing, and block printing.

2020 Quilt Con charity quilt challenge theme is TEXT. Details on the MQG site. COMQG will have a challenge to come up with our entry. Cynthia Atkins is chair and Sherry offered to help.

The new MQG online magazine is available to members so check it out.

Treasurer’s report: We wrapped up the fiscal year being $1,000 in the black. Woohoo!

Charity: We’ve already completed 94 placemats this year! Prizes were handed out.

Fund Raising: The fund raising quilt ticket sale has its own page on our website. Now sell those tickets! 1/$5 or 5/$20. Second place will be the incredible wall hanging Marah made at the Libs Elliott class and third place is a tote bag the talented Ashley is making. Don’t forget: we’ll have the Community Table at the Worthington Farmers Market on Sept. 21. See Marah or Kelsey if you’d like to help out selling tickets and talking with the public 7:30AM-1:00PM.

Family potluck picnic is scheduled for Oct. 6 from 4:30-6:30. Same place as last year in Bexley at the Jeffrey Mansion.

Social chairs, Randa and Cynthia are scheduling another happy hour at Watershed Distillery. It may be around Sept. 26, but stay tuned for details.

Retreat: It’s members only this year November 14-17 at Hotel Millersburg. If you’d like to attend, let Randa know and she can put you on the waiting list. Don’t forget that by Sept. 1 everyone attending has to call the hotel to register – even if you have a roommate, you both need to call. The Zoar deposits ($75) will be refunded because you’ll pay 100% of your cost directly to Hotel Millersburg (not the guild). Oh, and you don’t have to stay all 3 nights if you don’t want. Just let the hotel know how many nights you’ll be there.

State Fair was a great success. Thanks to everyone who helped!

Sept. meeting will be at the JoAnn’s at Polaris on Tuesday Sept. 10 at 6:30. We’ll learn about the long arm and how to rent it.
