October 2019 Meeting Minutes

Board nominations for 2020 – Check out the email Ashley sent on Oct. 9, it includes job descriptions and submission forms for nominations. If you think you or someone you know would be a good board member, be sure to nominate them by October 28. They will have to accept the nomination so nothing ventured, nothing gained! Once people accept, they’ll write a short description of why they’d like the position. Then all accepted nominations will be sent to the membership to review and vote.

NEW FOR 2019: ALL VOTING WILL BE DONE ONLINE!! All members will receive an email with a link to the ballot.

November meeting – a large percentage of the membership will be at the retreat. For those who are not at the retreat, a meeting will be held – maybe over dinner someplace…Dewey’s perhaps?? More to come on the location.

December meeting – We’ll meet at Sew to Speak! It’ll be a holiday potluck at 6:30. No sign up sheet for food; bring whatever floats your boat. Adult beverages are welcome as long as everyone drinks responsibly, of course.

– Sew to Speak will provide door prizes and a discount will be available on purchases that evening.

– We’ll have a pincushion swap. So put your design skills to use and make a cute pincushion. If you bring one; you’ll get one to take home.

Fundraising – Did you hear that Columbus is having a Shop Hop November 2? We hope to have our quilt at Dabble and Stitch to sell tickets. More to come, but if you’d like to help out, contact Kelsey or Marah.

Sew In – October 26 at the lovely Grove City library 9:30-5:30. Come for the whole day or just part. We’ll be putting the QuiltCon Charity Quilt together. Cheri has packets of blocks available – easy paper piecing with 5 pieces. If you took blocks to work on be sure they’re at the library on the 26th. Bring food to share, but hot dishes aren’t allowed.

2020 Guild Bee – we talked about doing something different next year. Everyone liked the idea of a Mystery Quilt. Each month you get instructions and work on your own quilt. Do as much or as little as you like, but a little birdie said there might be check-ins; if you bring in your quilt top you might get entered into a drawing for a prize!

Our friend Randa is moving to Washington DC next month. I know I speak for the entire membership when I say how much we’ll miss her but wish her all the best. Randa did let everyone know she WILL be at the retreat!

Cynthia led us in a fun activity using paint chips to design fabulous blocks.
