November 10, 2022 – In-person meeting at the Ohio Craft Museum
Meeting was called to order at 6:35pm with 15 members present.
President’s report:
We will move our monthly meeting location to Sew to Speak in Worthington beginning January 2023. Anita has offered the space for us to use the 2nd Thursday of each month free of charge. The Ohio Craft Museum charges $50 for the use of their space, so the move will be a cost savings for the guild.
We will have a sew-in on Saturday, 11/12 9am-5pm at the Karl Rd Library. Feel free to bring your own projects or help make the goodie bags that will be distributed to guests at our National Quilt Day luncheon.
We have committed to a make & take project for the Ohio Craft Museum on January 14, 2023 as part of our agreement to use their space for our meetings. Please contact Lissa with any project ideas you may have. They need to be fairly quick and easy so even kids can complete within a short time.
Programming: The 12/8 Guild meeting will be our Holiday Party. We will meet at Seventh Son Brewing at our normal time, 6:30-8:30. Spouses and significant others are welcome. Lissa will send out a survey. Please RSVP so she knows how many to expect. We will hold the raffle for the holiday quilt fundraiser at the meeting.
We will also collect personal feminine hygiene products and underwear (new only) for donation to I Support the Girls. Go to IsupportTheGirls.org or their facebook page, I-Support-the-Girls-Columbus, for more information on this organization.
For a gift exchange, please choose your favorite notion(s) $10-$15 value and bring 3. We will exchange at the party and you will go home with 3 other notions.
Finally, if you are participating in the bias applique block raffle, please bring your completed blocks. We will have a drawing for all participants and the winner will go home with all the blocks.
Treasurer’s Report: The Guild currently has $3354. We took in $832 in October from the sale of raffle tickets, the first Luncheon tickets sold and new member dues. October expenditures include the Craft Museum fee and postcards for the Luncheon. Linda will look into getting a device that will allow the guild to take credit card payments in the future.
Membership dues for 2023 will likely be raised to $40 or $45. Members were fine with the small increase noting that it is still relatively low and that to join the national MQG without the benefit of a local guild is $35. Members of the Central Ohio MQG are automatically members of the National MQG at no additional charge.
By-Laws: By-Laws have been reviewed and revised and sent out to membership for review and discussion at the meeting. Barb motioned that the By-Law revisions with the Record Retention SOP separated to another document be accepted. Susan seconded the motion and the motion was passed unanimously. The by-laws are posted on the website.
2023 Executive Board Members were voted on electronically prior to the meeting the is 2023 Executive Board members are: Barb Kelly, President; Lissa LaGreca, VP; Erica Olivares-Vincent, VP-Elect; Linda Selby, Treasurer; Susan Shuter, Secretary; Kate Schwartz, Social Media/Technology; Patty Merrick, Fundraising; Mary Maben, Charity; Dorothy Michalski, Membership.
