An Important Update for Guild Members

An email went out to Guild members today. It shared a lot of important information – updates basically on how this Guild can move forward during a quarantine period. PLEASE, read the email. I am going to post it again here, below, for you. We are going to make the best of things while hanging out online and sewing from home. Thanks everyone! -Kate

Hello Everyone,

We hope this email finds you healthy and safe!

The past 2 weeks have brought significant changes to our lives and we have really missed seeing everyone! We are all spending a lot more time at home and we hope that you are finding more time in your sewing room. As such, we can’t let that beautiful work go unadmired! We’d like to share the guild’s plan to sew on and stay connected.

We will be transitioning our April and May meetings to be virtual! We hope that they will run quite similarly to our in-person meetings, complete with show & tell, challenge reveals, and demo’s. In order to facilitate this change we will be using Zoom. We are in the process of getting this set up and will have more information for members soon.

A few members have reached out to wish everyone well and offer support (grocery trips, errand running, etc). It is truly heartening that our members really care about each other and are willing to help! If you need anything, don’t hesitate to email myself and the board and we can arrange for assistance!

Charity Update

Masks Needed! Due to a shortage of masks, Jenny has proposed that we aid our health workers by making coverings to extend the life of the n95 masks. These cotton mask coverings are worn on top of the n95 and are a critical crisis response option during mask shortages. Our goal is to make 100 masks which means if each member is able to make 3 we will meet our goal! You can find more information about the shortage here and the pattern can be found here (pattern). Please pre-wash your fabric!

It goes without saying, but do NOT make a mask if you are sick or come in close contact with someone who has tested positive 😉

Post your progress using #comqgsews and @centralohiomqg

Camp Kesem: Jenny has 56 pre-cut kits for making backpacks available for pick-up or to be mailed to members. Please let Jenny know how many backpacks you would like to make and if you would like them mailed or to pick up.
