Members voted unanimously to go forward with a plan to use Slack for communication and sharing.
– this will be a private connection exclusively for COMQG members
– each chair/project lead will have their own slack channel as needed to share
updates and information with members
– members can follow or unfollow each channel at their discretion, allowing them to keep up to date on projects they are involved in
QuiltCon will be virtual in 2021 with entries by two of our members, Cassandra
Beaver and Lissa LaGreca. Look for two of Cassandra’s quilts, “The Value of Coral”
entered in the wedges category and “String Theory” entered into the small quilts
category. Keep an eye out for Lissa’s quilt “Positivity” entered into the small quilts
category and a special appearance of “Self Portrait Number 1” by Lucas LeGreca,
Lissa’s son.
There will be a virtual sew-in this Saturday, January 16 on Zoom starting at 10:00am.
We will have a guest speaker, Sara Trail, at our virtual February meeting from SGSA Sewing Academy. We are scheduled to start right at 6:30, so be sure to sign on for next month’s meeting a few minutes early!
Treasurer Linda Miller explained how members can pay their dues the preferred
way on Pay Pal. Steps for completing the process will be posted on our website.
Please fill out the survey sent out on January 4th and pay your $35 annual dues no later than Feb 11th.

– Add Note: YOUR NAME and “Dues 2021”
– Select “Friends and Family”
Kate and Patty presented the monthly challenge for 2021. Members are challenged to make a two-color quilt and use MQG modern guidelines that encourage bold colors and prints, high contrast and graphic areas of solid color, improvisational piecing, minimalism, expansive negative space, and alternative grid work. More information regarding the challenge will be on the Website.
A social chair is needed to manage the guild’s goal to provide backpacks to the
Camp Kasem project. Guild members will make backpacks and the social chair will
manage the project and keep track of the backpacks needed and completed. Please let Marah know if you are interested.
Natalie is organizing our fabric stash and preparing for a fundraiser project. Update on details later.
A big congratulations to all of the members who participated in the Charity Quilt. It’s done and is beautiful and will be a great quilt to represent Central Ohio Modern Quilt Guild at QuiltCon.
Tonight’s program was the presentation of member quilts finished in 2020,
presented by Cassandra Beaver, featuring quilts members worked on during the
year of the pandemic, 2020. Great presentation by Cassandra and so much talent in guild members!
The next meeting will be a virtual Zoom meeting Thursday, February 11 at 6:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Patty Merrick
