New National MQG Website now online.
MQG Sessions: Virtual event is scheduled for October 13-16. Registration opens July 26.
QuiltCon 2023: To be held February 23-26, 2023 in Atlanta, GA. The 2023 Teachers have been
announced including our own, Cassandra Beaver. Course schedule has been posted. Registration opens
August 16 for members. If you are a member of the Central Ohio Modern Quilt Guild, you are also a
member of the national MQG. Scholarships are available to help with expenses.
Barb is working on a google.doc that is a roster of all the Central Ohio MQG members, their phone
numbers and email addresses. Members will receive an email granting access to this google.doc. Please
do not share this list outside the guild.
VP / Programming: Lissa provided a presentation and handout on MQG challenges and Quiltcon entry.
We’d love to see our Guild members participate!
The Make a Difference Challenge theme is “Oceans” using Bella Moda solid fabrics. Entries are online
photos and all MGQ members are eligible to vote. Photo submissions are due Aug 8. More information
can be found on the MQG website under Member Resources – swaps and challenges.
QuiltCon has several categories to choose from and you can submit as many entries as you like, though
only a maximum of 4 per person can be accepted. Call for entries is open from 9/1 to 10/31. More
information is available on quiltcon.com/submit-a-quilt/.
Lissa is setting up a new sewing circle for those interested in submitting quilts into show and specifically
QuiltCon to exchange ideas, photograph entries, write the blurbs, encourage and support each other.
Meetings will be held in-person and on Zoom. Email Lissa to be included in the invites.
Community Challenge Quilt. We have a call for design ideas for our Community Challenge Quilt. The
2023 theme is “Color Shift”. Erica Olivares-Vincent is heading up the committee for this quilt. We will
make two quilts. One for the 2023 QuiltCon entry and the other for our 2023 raffle quilt. We have a
choice between 2 colorways, cool – dark teal to lime green and warm – eggplant purple to pink. Designs
should use at least 3 of the colors on the gradient. No neutrals, but you’re not limited to solids.
Completed quilts should be approximately 65”x85”. More information can be found on the MQG
website under Quiltcon.com/community-outreach-quilt-challenge-2023. Please submit your design
ideas to Erica by August 8. We will have members help with the quilt math to make the pattern if
needed. We will be able to vote online Aug 9-11 or at the Aug 11 meeting. Once a design is selected, we
will set up some sew-ins to work on the project together.

Treasurer Report: $2,851 in the Guild account. 31 dues paid members. Barb is ordering additional
business cards and stationary for Guild use.
Secretary’s report: We have 15 members participating in the postcard challenge. A reminder email was
sent to participants on 7/14. Postcards will be exchanged at the October 13 Guild meeting.
Fund Raising:
Holiday Raffle Quilt. The quilt top is finished, and Kathy O’Sullivan is doing the quilting. We still need a
volunteer to bind the completed quilt.
Once the quilt is finished, we will photograph it and print up
some post cards to publicize the raffle. There will be 2nd and 3rd prizes of a table topper and tote using
the remaining baubles not used in the quilt top. 750 paper raffle tickets are on order. Tickets can also
be purchased through Rally-up online.
National Quilt Day luncheon March 18, 2023 at The Franklin Park Conservatory. We will discuss the
planning more in depth at the August 11 meeting.
Ohio State Fair: We are in need of volunteers to help with the judging of quilts on Tuesday 7/19 which
involves showing the quilts for judging and writing down the judges comment for each. Volunteers are
also needed for set-up on 7/23-24 and take down on 8/7. If you can help any of these dates, please let
Cassandra know.
Show and Tell – We enjoyed sharing completed projects with each other.
Charity Project – We wrapped up the meeting by packing 130 completed pouches for the 4-H exhibitors
